About

Dr. Jenny Munden, DDS

Dr. Jenny Munden is an Indianapolis native and a true Hoosier. She received her undergraduate degree from Indiana University and went on to complete dental school in 2009 from Indiana University School of Dentistry. After dental school, Dr. Munden completed a general practice residency for one year in Indianapolis. Since school, she has practiced general dentistry for over 15 years in southern Indiana. Dr. Munden has struggled with TMJ pain and headaches for many years. Throughout her years of treating patients, Dr. Munden also recognized that many of her patients also struggled with TMJ pain, facial pain, and headaches/migraines. She has spent the last ten years pursuing and expanding her knowledge and treatment options in this field. She has been able to personally help herself with what she has learned and is excited to share her treatment with patients at Southern Indiana TMJ. The most common symptom associated with TMJ/TMJD/TMD is pain or soreness in the jaw and surrounding muscles. Patients can also present with varying symptoms that make it difficult for them to associate to this disorder. Some examples of these problematic symptoms can include ringing ears, cloggy/stuffy ears, vision changes, vertigo/dizziness, tooth sensitivity, face or finger numbness, sinus issues, headaches, and limited neck and shoulder mobility. Dr. Jenny believes that a functional approach to treatment includes not only managing the symptoms but also exploring the root causes of the disorder. She believes the four main contributors for patients with TMJ dysfunction include the temporomandibular joint, the surrounding head and neck muscles, the tongue, and the bite. Sleep-disordered breathing, tongue restrictions, stress, trauma, hormones, postural imbalances, and bad habits can also be very common root causes and/or contributing factors for TMJD. Dr. Jenny feels very strongly about educating and empowering the patient so that they can be active in their own management and prevention of the disorder. At this time, Dr. Munden does not accept medical or dental insurance for her services. Patients are provided a helpful form to pursue their own insurance reimbursements. A Health Savings Account (HSA) card is accepted. Dr. Munden provides each patient with detailed estimates prior to treatment. In her free time, Dr. Jenny loves spending time with her husband, three kids, two dogs, and two cats! She enjoys flowers and gardening, indoor biking, and listening to vinyl records with her family.
